Philadelphia 76ers have their sights set on Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George as their top offseason target if he opts out of his contract, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

George's player option for the 2024-25 season is valued at $48.8 million, but if he chooses to decline it, the Sixers are poised to make a move.

"The Sixers have plenty of room to make a significant move," Pompey writes. "And they intend to do just that. Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George is expected to be their top target if he declines his $48.8 million player option with L.A. for next season."

The Clippers have until June 30th to sign George to an extension. Already securing Kawhi Leonard to a three-year, $149 million extension in January, they have been proactive in retaining their star talent. However, no deal was reached with George.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the 33-year-old George has maintained his performance on the court. He has been averaging 22.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 47.0% from the field and 41.2% from beyond the arc in 73 appearances this season.

Currently earning $45.6 million, George has been with the Los Angeles franchise for five seasons.
