Lithuanian basketball legend Paulis Jankunas moved from being Zalgiris Kaunas's GM to being the club's president.

After his retirement from basketball, Paulius Jankunas became an executive and quickly rose through the ranks of Zalgiris Kaunas, the club where he spent the majority of his playing career.

In June 2023, he became the club's GM and made striking moves, such as sacking Kazys Maksvytis and replacing him with Andrea Trinchieri, who gave the team a late-season boost.

Now, according to an announcement by the club, Jankunas is taking on a new journey: he became the club's president.

This means that Jankunas will no longer be GM. Instead,Gediminas Navickas, another former player and the current head of the BC Zalgiris Youth Program, will be taking over as GM.

Jankunas played for Zalgiris Kaunas for almost the entirety of his career. His participation in the club between 2003 and 2022 was only interrupted in the 2009-10 season, in which he made a one-season detour in Khimki Moscow Region.

As for Navickas, the executive played for Zalgiris in the 2004-05 season and was teammates with Jankunas that year.
