Fernandez is expected to stay with Sacramento for the rest of the season. The Kings will figure in a play-in game against the Golden State Warriors for a chance at a playoff spot.
He served as an assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets before working with Mike Brown on the Kings coaching staff.
