After beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-2, the Dallas Mavericks became the first team this year to qualify for the Western Conference finals.

In Game 6 of the series, the Mavericks prevailed with a very narrow score of 117-116 and went up 4-2.

The final matchup of the series was high-octane. Even though the Mavericks were down 48-64 at the end of the first half, they managed to erase the deficit throughout the second half.

At the very end of regulation, P. J. Washington of the Mavericks was fouled on the act of shooting a three-pointer. He barely made the first two to break the tie to put his team up by 2 and intentionally missed the third one. The OKC had less than 2.5 seconds and could not score.

In the game, Luka Doncic had a triple-double of 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. He was joined by Kyrie Irving and Derrick Jones Jr., who each had 22 points, and Dereck Lively, who had a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds.

As for Oklahoma City, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 36 points, 3 rebounds, and 8 assists. This, however, was not enough to prevent the team's elimination.

This is the second time that the Mavericks made it to the Western Conference finals since the 2021-22 NBA season.

In the Western Conference finals, the team led by Doncic and Irving will meet the winner of Game 7 between the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves on May 20.
