Apart from their on-court partnership, Fisher and Bryant were also close friends off the floor.
Fisher, who is in Manila for an NBA-initiated coaching clinic, recalled a talk he had with Kobe and his former teammate's meaningful message that really resonated with him.
"We were talking about family, kids, and life, [and] he said something that struck me and altered my perspective on decision-making around what you want to get out of life, personally and professionally," Fisher told BasketNews.com.
"He said there was a point in his life where he started thinking about for every decision that he made, the consideration he had to make was how is this going to impact my daughters 20 years from now."

"If you think about that for a moment, just as a man, as a husband, as a father, if you really think about every decision you make and how it's going to impact your children 20 years later, it would probably impact the decision you'll make. I think that one stands out to me more than any other story," he added.
Fisher has four children and is currently coaching at the high school level in Los Angeles.
Bryant died in a helicopter crash in January 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.
