USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill shared the factors they considered in selecting players for Team USA.

USA Basketball revealed its 12-man lineup that will compete in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

Team USA's roster includes Steph Curry, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, Anthony Edwards, Jrue Holiday, Bam Adebayo, Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard. and Tyrese Haliburton.

The 2023 FIBA World Cup was the last major international competition that the US participated in, but the Americans failed to medal and only finished fourth in the 32-nation event.

In a report by ESPN's Tim Bontemps, USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill detailed the thought process behind their Olympic roster.

"I learned, certainly the elite teams, the teams that seriously have a chance to contend for a gold medal, I learned the diversity and sort of styles and just the feel of the game overall. You go through a World Cup, you really pick up on quite a bunch," said Hill.

"[Defense] was certainly an area where we needed to be better on and to improve upon, and we have guys that have that as a foundation. ... The game is much more physical than the NBA game. And so being aware of that, having guys whose games would translate on that level on the defensive side and offensive side was important. So yes, this is not a knock on any team that we've had in the past, but I'm really excited about the defensive potential of this group as we work together and prepare ourselves for Paris."

Team USA, who has won the Olympic basketball competition four straight times, is expected to start their preparations for the Summer Games in July.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will run from July 26 to August 11.
