He even admitted that he and the club made a mistake by deciding to speed up the recovery period and thus worsened the overall situation.
"Most likely, the season is over for me. I broke a bone in two, yesterday I took off the cast and I will have to rest between six and eight weeks," revealed Hanga and added:
"I was hit in the arm during training, it was completely harmless situation, we were fighting for the ball, my hand went up and my teammate's elbow went down and unfortunately my metacarpal bone broke in half."
As he said, he felt at that very moment that "something was wrong" and immediately went to the hospital, where his greatest fear was confirmed in a short time. He also mentioned that he discussed with the surgeon the next day whether a possible operation would speed up the recovery, but in the end they decided against the intervention. On Thursday, the cast was already removed, and a brace was placed on his hand, which should be on for six to eight weeks.
Evaluating the season in an interview with the Hungarian outlet, Hanga said that he has mixed feelings because Zvezda did not play as well as they would have liked in the EuroLeague, as they missed the playoffs.
"I am proud that this summer I signed a contract with Red Star, a club with a long history where I had the opportunity to play in front of 20-22.000 people several times a week. I signed a contract for 1+1 year, but nothing is certain.
If it were only up to me, I would stay. My future depends a lot on what the club will tell me, whether my injury affects their decision or not. I think I will know if I stay in Belgrade in a month at the latest," concluded Hanga.
