The younger Porter was sentenced to 8 years - 6 for the death of the driver, Kathy Rothman, and 2 years for the passenger in her car who was seriously hurt - but the two sentences will run concurrently.
Coban Porter was drunk driving at around 2 AM on January 22nd, 2023 when he ran a red light and crashed into another car, The Denver Post reports. He was driving at 50 mph in a 30 mph zone, while his blood-alcohol level was at 0.19, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.
"All I can say is that I'm sorry," Coban Porter said during the trial on Friday. "I know that I'm never going to be able to right that wrong."
Earlier this week, the NBA announced that Porter Jr.'s other brother, Jontay Porter, was banned from the NBA for life for actively participating in sports betting, wagering, and helping to wager on himself and the league.
Porter Jr. has yet to comment on either incident. The 25-year-old begins the playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers at 8:30 PM EST on Saturday, April 20th.
