Maxey led the Sixers in scoring in their 111-104 Game 1 defeat, pouring in 33 points on 14-of-26 shooting with two assists and two rebounds. He averaged 25.9 points per game this season while making the All-Star team for the first time in his career.
The Kentucky product, who fell all the way to No. 21 in the 2020 NBA Draft, selected by Daryl Morey and Elton Brand, more than doubled his points per game total from 8.0 (as a rookie) up to 17.5 back in 2021-2022.
In 2022-2023, his first full season playing alongside James Harden, Maxey averaged 20.3 points and 3.5 dimes per game, shooting 43.4% from distance on six triples per outing.
The Philadelphia 76ers head into Monday night’s game against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden trailing 1–0 in the first-round playoff series.
Star center Joel Embiid was also listed as questionable for Game 2 as he continues to battle a left knee injury.
