Gobert revealed he's applied to be the French flag bearer in the upcoming Paris Olympics. If successful, he would become the first basketball player to do that in French history.

Rody Gobert is one of the most prominent French basketball players and athletes. The Minnesota Timberwolves center would like to solidify his career even further.

Before the Game 2 victory against the Phoenix Suns, Gobert revealed he would like to be the French flag bearer at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games this upcoming summer.

"Of course, I'm applying, I've always dreamed of it, and it would be an incredible honor," he told Le Monde. "I have always devoted myself to the French team and this would be a new way to represent the country."

If Gobert succeeds in his ambition, he will become the first basketball player to carry the French flag during the Olympic Games opening ceremony.

Since 2020, France has opted to go with two flag bearers - one man and one woman. Before the change, Teddy Riner (judo) and Martin Fourcade (biathlon) were the lat single flag bearers.
