"He should be in the MVP talk. He's in the space, he's got the right mind frame as far as doing what's needed to push my team forward," Marbury said.
"Not only is he pushing his team forward, but he's pushing them forward with him playing the game the way how he plays is, which is the right way, and they're winning," the former player continued. "And he has his teammates gathering around him doing it, even with [Julius] Randle out. That is MVP-style stuff."
Brunson played the best season of his career in 2023-24, averaging 28.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game on 47.9% shooting. Although his scoring average slightly dipped in the first two games of the series against the Philadelphia 76ers (23 points per game), Brunson increased his production in the rebounding category (7.5 rebounds per game), while maintaining his assist average.
The Knicks took the first two games by a combined margin of just 10 points. Game 3 of the series is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST on Thursday, April 25th.
