He was selected 41st in the 2014 NBA Draft and had a very limited role at a time when the team was far away from the playoffs picture.
At the moment, both Jokic and the Nuggets are at the top of the NBA, fighting a first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers, where they are currently 3-0.
"I think I said one time that winning is a lifestyle for us. It's really good when you're winning… Everybody is happy," Jokic said.
"Everybody wants to play. Everybody is buying into the system… I was here when we were losing. I don't want to go back," he recalled.
Since being drafted, Jokic was named regular season MVP twice, became Finals MVP, and won the championship in 2023.
Furthermore, he was named to the All-Rookie First Team, was cited three times for the All-NBA First Team, two times for the All-NBA Second Team, and became an All-Star 6 times.
This season, he is one of the three remaining candidates for the MVP race alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic.
