"To be honest, I haven't asked myself that question yet. I try to stay focused on what we have to do first with ASVEL. Then we'll see when it's time for discussions. Throughout my career, I never really put pressure on myself about the next contracts," de Colo said.
"Obviously, it will depend on what ASVEL wants to do and the opportunities that I can have. It's certain that I'm at the end of my contract, so I'm obviously free to do what I want," the Frenchman said. "It depends on a number of things, my family too. There are several elements to take into account."
At 36 years old, de Colo is already thinking about the next step beyond a professional basketball player career. The ASVEL guard is sure - the next deal he'll sign will also be his last.
"I don't know yet, it will mainly depend on physical and mental fitness," de Colo said when asked how many years he has planned to play. "It's a whole thing: do I want to continue or not, can I still contribute to a team? Whatever happens, I'm someone who wants to stay in basketball. So the day my career ends, I will also try to find a project that interests me. When you reach the end of your career, you have to take the years one after the other and see how things evolve. I can even sign a 5-year deal somewhere tomorrow and say, 'We'll see year after year what happens.'"
"The only thing I am sure of - this summer with the French team will be my last campaign. I will do everything to be part of the adventure and for it to be a great adventure. For the future, the next contract will surely also be the last of my career, but honestly, I haven't looked into the question any further," de Colo concluded.
The veteran guard is currently sidelined with what is described as a severe ankle sprain.
