They find themselves trailing 0-3 in their first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, with their latest setback being a 126-109 defeat on Friday night.
Beal, Durant, and Booker combined for 76 points in this game, but that was not enough.
The Suns' journey towards assembling this roster began in early February last year when new owner Mat Ishbia and general manager James Jones orchestrated a bold move. This involved packaging two key members of Phoenix's 2021 NBA Finals squad along with four unprotected first-round picks to acquire Durant from the Brooklyn Nets.
Subsequent strategic moves followed suit, including replacing Monty Williams with Frank Vogel as head coach, orchestrating a trade that brought Bradley Beal to Phoenix in exchange for Chris Paul and draft assets, and participating in the Damian Lillard blockbuster trade which saw Deandre Ayton being swapped for Jusuf Nurkic and Grayson Allen.
The Suns also capitalized on their remaining assets by acquiring Royce O'Neale.
All these maneuvers were aimed at transforming the Suns into a more formidable force capable of challenging the landscape of the Western Conference playoffs. However, despite their ambitious roster moves, the Suns' postseason performances have yet to meet expectations.
Last season, they were eliminated in the second round by the eventual champions, the Denver Nuggets.
