Mike Conley wins NBA's Sportsmanship award for record fourth time

On Friday, the NBA announced that Minnesota Timberwolves pointguard Mike Conley was the 2022-23 Sportsmanship award winner.

This award honors a player who best represents the ideals ofsportsmanship on the court. This is Conley's fourth time winningthis award, which is the most in NBA history.

Conley beat out fellow finalists Houston Rockets center BobanMarjanovic, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland, Miami Heatcenter Bam Adebayo, Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes andNew York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson to win the award.

Conley received 96 first-place votes and 2,739 total votingpoints, while runner-up Marjanovic received 91 first-place votesbut only 2,665 total voting points.

Each NBA team nominated one of its players for the Sportsmanshipaward. From the list of 30 team nominees, a panel of leagueexecutives selected one finalist from each of the NBA’s sixdivisions.

Current NBA players selected the winner from the list of sixfinalists, with nearly 400 players submitting their votes throughconfidential balloting conducted by the league office.
