"We all know what Partizan means to Zeljko and what Zeljko means to Partizan," said club president Ostoja Mijailovic. "We decided on two years because that's how long my mandate is."
"As for all of us who are at the club, I want to stay for a long time. He can stay as long as he wants, and I believe that it will be for a long time," he continued. "This is a big thing for our further growth and development, to be a permanent member of the EuroLeague."
Obradovic returned to Partizan in 2021, steering the team to the ABA League championship in 2023. It marks a full circle for Obradovic, as Partizan was where he began his head coaching journey from 1991 to 1993.
Prior to his coaching tenure, Obradovic cemented his status as a Partizan icon through his playing days, spanning from 1984 to 1991, during which he secured the FIBA Korac Cup in 1989.
This season, Obradovic guided Partizan to a 16-18 EuroLeague record and 11th place, narrowly missing out on the Play-In Tournament. Last year, Partizan participated in the EuroLeague playoffs but lost the series to eventual champions, Real Madrid.
Partizan currently play in the ABA League semis and will start their series against Buducnost.
Overall, Obradovic is the most successful EuroLeague head coach, with nine titles under his belt. His coaching path has taken him through European powerhouses such as Joventut Badalona, Real Madrid, Benetton Treviso, Panathinaikos Athens, Fenerbahce Istanbul, and, of course, Partizan Belgrade.
