Dusan Alimpijevic and Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul have been having a decent season, making it to the EuroCup semifinals and guaranteeing they will finish the Turkish Basketball Super League in third place.

This overall successful season is all the more pronounced, considering the fact that Besiktas was almost relegated in Turkiye last season.

Despite all this, Alimpijevic believes that the club is not seeing much respect, particularly by Turkish basketball authorities, and he made his views clear after an 83-89 win over Turk Telekom Ankara.

"I think we deserve a little more respect as a club and as a team. I will talk about this after the end of the league because I don't want additional penalties for myself and the club," Alimpijevic said in the post-game interview.

"But be sure, I will say everything. I call on everyone to come to the Reeder Samsunspor game and support us. We deserve this as a team," he concluded, appealing to fans for support ahead of Besiktas's penultimate game of the regular season.

Both Alimpijevic and the club have been subject to occasional sanctions this season, both in the Turkish League and in the EuroCup. Most notoriously, the club was slapped with sanctions after a fan injured Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul's Yam Madar in the eye with a coin.

Other sanctions included improper gestures Alimpijevic made to the Bursaspor Info Yatirim bench in one game and ejections in the last semifinal game against Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse.
