Even though Maccabi competed withoutWade Baldwin IV, they managed to beat Panathinaikos in Game 3 in front of almost a thousand local fans who flew in from Israel.
With Baldwin sidelined,Lorenzo Browntook charge as the leader and the main creator of the squad. In 32 minutes on the court, Brown scored 16 points and dished out 8 assists.
"It was amazing! The energy was electrifying," Lorenzo Brown toldBasketNewsabout Maccabi fans in the Aleksandar Nikolic Hall in Belgrade. "It's great to see our fans in there, and I'm pretty sure those guys are glad to be there as well."
"Wherever they're at, we feel them. It's just about the energy - they're yelling, they're screaming the whole game. It creates an impact for us. It's like no other," he said. "It's amazing to have our fans back at the gym with us in the EuroLeague. I'm pretty sure they missed it as well."
Brown was also the player who stood at the free-throw line with the score tied at 83 to win the game for Maccabi. He made both shots. Even though Panathinaikos took a timeout and advanced the ball,Kendrick Nunn's last-second shot was no good.
The star guard admits - this was not the initial plan.
