A panel of league executives selected 12 finalists (six from each conference) for the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award. Current NBA players selected the winner from the list of finalists.
The finalists were: Harrison Barnes (Sacramento Kings), Mikal Bridges (Brooklyn Nets), Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks), Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (Denver Nuggets), Mike Conley (Minnesota Timberwolves), Markelle Fultz (Orlando Magic), Al Horford (Boston Celtics), T.J. McConnell (Indiana Pacers), Larry Nance Jr. (New Orleans Pelicans), Georges Niang (Cleveland Cavaliers), Dwight Powell (Dallas Mavericks) and Jalen Williams (Oklahoma City Thunder).
Conley is in his 17th NBA season. In addition to being named the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year twice, he has won the NBA Sportsmanship Award a record four times.
The award, given annually for selfless play, on-court and off-court leadership, and commitment and dedication to the team, is named after Maurice Stokes and Jack Twyman, friends who played together on the Cincinnati Royals. Stokes was paralyzed after an on-court injury in 1958, and Twyman became his legal guardian and supported Stokes for the rest of his life until his death in 1970.
The only other Timberwolves player to win the teammate award previously was Jamal Crawford for the 2017-18 season. Jrue Holiday, a three-time winner, is the only other player in the league to win the award multiple times.
