Houston Rockets and the Canada national team forward Dillon Brooks was present at the game as Olympiacos crushed FC Barcelona 92-58, and tied the best-of-five EuroLeague series at 2-2.
So, what brings Dillon Brooks to Greece?
"My brother plays for Olympiacos, so I'm watching him play," Brooks told Giorgos Kyriakidis from BasketNews before mentioning who the special host is. "Naz Mitrou-Long. I always wanted to come and watch a game just to see the atmosphere."
"The energy is crazy. The basketball… You gotta be precise. This is mostly the energy, for sure," Brooks bluntly shared his impressions about the EuroLeague.
However, Brooks is familiar with the strongest European basketball competition.
"Yeah, a lot of my friends play in the EuroLeague," the Rockets forward said when asked whether he watched it before. "So, I always watch it. Boban [Marjanovic] on my team in Houston is also always watching. They played in the EuroLeague before they played in the NBA. It's a different style of basketball."
"I love it," Brooks continued praising the EuroLeague. "I just love the energy because I'm an energy guy. I love the energy, I love the crowd, I feed off that. [There's] slower pace but you know, it's a great brand of basketball."
That being said, would Brooks consider playing in Europe?
"I was just talking with my boy about that. Would I ever play? I don't know, I don't know, to be honest. It seems like it presents its own challenges. But it's amazing that I'm here," Brooks said.
"In a way that every possession counts, there's no bad shots, there's no empty possesions. I feel like those challenges are the biggest," Brooks named the potential challenges for him.
However, it seems that Brooks made only one stop to see the EuroLeague action.
"I was just stopping by to see him [Mitrou-Long] chill and see how he is. He lives in Greece all the way from Canada. So, I'm just visiting," Brooks said.
Finally, Brooks agreed with Jabari Parker that the European crowd is much more committed than the NBA audience.
"Yeah, it's not a vibe [in the NBA]. Everyone is locked into the game [in Europe]. It's amazing, too. You see, it's a lot like soccer, that type of atmosphere. So, I'm just enjoying it," Brooks concluded.
