Bulls' Lonzo Ball to undergo knee surgery, may miss 2023-24 season

The following is a press release from the ChicagoBulls:

The Chicago Bulls, guard Lonzo Ball and Klutch Sports announcedtoday that Ball will undergo a cartilage transplant in his leftknee. Ball will remain out indefinitely. Updates will be providedwhen appropriate.

“My main focus has been on returning to the court and getting toa place where I can rejoin my teammates," Ball said in a statement."This has been a frustrating process, but I’m confident these nextsteps are the best path forward. The support of my family, friends,fans and medical staff throughout my recovery is what keeps memoving forward. I can’t wait to get back to what I love doing most– playing basketball.”

“I continue to admire Lonzo’s perseverance throughout thisjourney. This has been a long and challenging road for him, andthis decision has been a difficult one to make," added ArtūrasKarnišovas, the Bulls' executive vice president of basketballoperations. "The organization is behind him, and he has our fullsupport. Our training and medical staff continue their commitmentto Lonzo’s rehabilitation and to working with him throughout thisnext phase to ensure his healthy return to basketball.”

According to ESPN's AdrianWojnarowski, Ball will miss most of, if not the entire, 2023-24season to recover from the procedure.
