As Europa Press found out from court documents, a 28-year-old coach from Felanitx is being prosecuted for sexual abuse toward six minors.
The Prosecutor's Office charged the man with four counts of sexual abuse and two counts of sexual assault. The events occurred between 2015 and 2021, court documents show. He was arrested in 2021 and a 1-kilometer restraining order was issued. The Prosecutor's Office is asking for a 47-year prison sentence.
The abuse started when some of the minors were as young as nine. The man would present himself as an authority figure; he would stay at their homes, regularly attend parties, or invite them to his home.
The coach is accused of having performed masturbation on the minors, showing them pornography, and even asking some of them to masturbate him. Acts also included inappropriate touching while he was driving and the victim was a passenger.
Court documents show the man tried to convince the victims it was normal behavior among friends. In a common theme during similar cases, when some of the minors rejected his actions, the coach prevented them access to basketball gyms and publicly criticized one of them in front of other team players, telling them not to hang out with him.
In addition to the prison sentence, the Prosecutor's Office demands a €9000 to €24,000 financial compensation to each of the victims, according to Diario de Mallorca.
