After the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated in the 2022-23 NBA Playoffs, LeBron James hinted that he might end his career. The King now clarified his stance once and for all.

LeBron took the stage at the annual ESPY Awards and when it looked like he might be announcing his retirement, he did the opposite.

"I don't care how many more points I score or what I can or cannot do on the floor, the real question for me is 'Can I play without cheating this game?' The day I can't give the game everything on the floor is the day I'll be done. Lucky for you guys, that day is not today," he said.

In his 20th season in the NBA last year, LeBron averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists for the Lakers. He is set to earn $47,607,350 in the upcoming season.

After the 2023-24 season, there is a player option included in LeBron's deal with the Lakers. The superstar forward has publicly stated that he wants his last year in the league to be spent playing alongside his son Bronny. The 2024 NBA Draft is the first when Bronny is eligible to be drafted.

LeBron overtook Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA's all-time leading scorer last season.
