Just two games into the Lithuanian League (LKL) regular season, the Latvian sensation suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined him for months.
After getting injured in October, the 24-year-old returned to the court only in late April. In his third game after the full recovery, Zagars scored 16 points in 16 minutes against Zalgiris Kaunas en route to a surprising victory against the EuroLeague team.
"I feel good. I mean, the first two games were difficult. It was obviously difficult for the coaches as well because they were trying to be careful with my playing time, and [had me on a] minutes restriction," Zagars told BasketNews after the win. "I knew it was going to take some time, it was going to take some time to come back and be an actual help to the team, so I'm just glad it happened before the playoffs. So yeah, I feel good."
"It was just really long. I think that was the worst part. I really missed basketball, those six months, I think, went in slow motion," the guard admitted.
