When asked about Butler's statement, Riley didn't mince words.
"For him to say that, I thought: is that Jimmy trolly, or is that Jimmy serious? If you're not on the court playing, you should keep your mouth shut," Riley was straightforward.
Despite Riley's blunt reaction, he still regards Butler as a cornerstone player for the franchise and isn't considering trading him.
Butler's track record with the Heat supports this view, having earned NBA All-Star selections twice during his tenure, in 2019-20 and 2021-22.
In the recently concluded regular season, Butler maintained solid averages of 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists across 60 games.
