Warriors' Draymond Green suspended 1 game for stomping on Sabonis

Golden State Warriors forward DraymondGreen has been suspended one game without pay for stepping on thechest of Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis, it was announcedtoday by NBA executive vice president and head of basketballoperations Joe Dumars.

The NBA noted that the suspension was"based in part on Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts."

Green’s actions were in response toSabonis grabbing and holding Green’s right ankle after falling tothe floor. Green received a Flagrant Foul 2 and was ejected, andSabonis was assessed a technical foul.

The incident occurred with 7:03remaining in the fourth quarter of the Warriors’ 114-106 loss tothe Kings in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series on April 17at Golden 1 Center. You can watch video of the stomp below:

Green will serve his suspension onApril 20 when the Warriors host the Kings for Game 3 of the seriesat Chase Center.

This season, Green averaged 8.5points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.8 assists and a steal, while shooting 52.7%from the field, 30.5% from three and 71.3% from the free-throwline. Through two playoff games, Green has averaged 6.0 points, 8.0assists, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals on 36.4/33.3/75.0 shootingsplits.

The Kings are currently up 2-0 overthe Warriors in the first-round series. It's the first time thatGolden State has been down 0-2 in a series in the Stephen Curryera.
