Brogdon has previously expressed his willingness to represent the Polish national team. The Polish Basketball Federation (PZKosz) has been in contact with the player for several years. It's now the first official move toward playing for Poland.
The Blazers guard submitted his application in a consulate in the US. The decision is now in the hands of the Polish President Andrzej Duda.
Brogdon's wife, Victoria Janowski, who's had Polish citizenship for a number of years, has Polish roots, as her family is from the Polish town of Słupsk.
If Brogdon plays for Poland, he will most likely be joined by San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan, who has said he would play this upcoming summer.
Poland will play in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Valencia, Spain in early July. Poland is in Group B with Finland and the Bahamas. Spain, Angola, and Lebanon are in Group A. The winner of the OQT in Spain will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
