The former Boston Celtics player was among 18 others who were earlier convicted of defrauding NBA Players' Health and Benefit Welfare Plan which is meant for former as well as current NBA players and their spouses.
Prosecutors said they made false claims for medical and dental procedures that they never received. Davis was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release. In addition, the judge said he must pay $80,000 in restitution as well.
The 38-year-old went live on Instagram and was seen outside of a New York courthouse after the verdict. During the live video, 'Big Baby' predicted his future body transformation, saying, "I'm going to be swolen. I swear to God, I'm about to get in so much shape. That's the only way you can stop me from eating hamburgers is put me in jail."
"That's what God say, I'm going to stop you eating hamburgers imma put you in jail," Davis continued. "You don't want to stop eating hamburgers and Cheetos? You're going to jail. So now, imma become The Rock.'
Davis' last NBA appearance was in the 2014-15 season. During his rookie season in 2008, he won the NBA championship with the Boston Celtics, averaging 4.5 points per game during that campaign.
In 2011, Boston traded Davis to the Orlando Magic, where he recorded a career-high 15.1 points per game in his second season.
In 2014, Davis signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. That would be his final destination in the NBA where he played for one-and-a-half seasons. Davis finished with 4,111 points, 2,236 rebounds, and 457 assists in his career.
