As James Harden departed fromthe Philadelphia 76ers, Marcus Morris was included in the tradepackage that the Los Angeles Clippers sent to the 76ers. Morris, aPhilly native, had the best outing of his young Sixers career onFriday night against the Detroit Pistons.

Hitting an extremely difficultthree-pointer to beat the shot clock, it was clear that Morris waslocked in. He would continue his hot streak for the rest of thegame, going 5-of-5 from beyond the arc, finishing with 15 pointsoff the bench.

Since arriving in Philly, Morrishas shot 57.6% from three-point range on roughly two attempts pergame. He has been a lights-out shooter this season, something theSixers desperately need around Joel Embiid.

When asked how good it feels tobe home, especially on a night when everything was clicking onoffense, he opened up about how special this homecoming is forhim.

“I’ve been playing in Sonny Hillleague and things like that since I was a child. Coming to theSixers games when they had AI, going down to Friday’s seeing him.Just that and being able to go to the Eagles games. That shit iseverything to me.”

I asked Marcus Morris what being back inPhilly meant to him, especially on a night like tonight.“I’ve been an eagles fan my whole life. Been a Sixers fan my wholelife. Being able to put that jersey on, it’s not for forever, I’mhappy to be able to say i did it.” pic.twitter.com/2xdWkuG1ge

Morris quickly became a fanfavorite with his Allen Iverson Friday’s reference, and voicing hissupport for the Philadelphia Eagles. Not to mention his activity inthe Sonny Hill League — a community summer basketball league inPhiladelphia.

“I’ve been an Eagles fan mywhole life. Been a Sixers fan my whole life," Morris continued."Being able to put that jersey on, it’s not for forever, [but] I’mhappy to be able to say I did it.”

Morris lived out everybasketball player’s dream. He was able to put on the jersey of hischildhood favorite team and put on a show in front of his homecrowd. With every three he made, the Wells Fargo Center erupted. Before this game and this quote, many fans were ready to tradeMorris. However, many have had a change of heart, knowing theycan’t let their hometown kid get away.
