"Please, America. Please stop the Michael Jordan stuff," Barkley began. "This guy's [Edwards] had one good playoff run. I think he's going to be a great player. He's a really nice kid; we root for him," Chuck continued.
When Shaquille O'Neal, another NBA legend, interjected and asked if Edwards was close to Jordan or not, Chuck had a humorous answer.
"Hell no. Close to who? They both black," he joked. "He's not close to Michael Jordan."
"Why can't we just let people do their thing and watch them?" Barkley wondered. "Why do we have to say, 'Well, he's like Michael Jordan.'"
Although Barkley raised a logical point, the comparisons have not been totally unwarranted. So far, Edwards is averaging 32.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game in the 2023-24 NBA post-season.
