Although the club was looking for investors in the meantime, they have not been able to come up with any potential buyers.
After playing for EuroLeague team LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in the 2021-22 season, Wembanyama decided to move to Metropolitans 92 to prepare for the 2023 NBA Draft.
There, he was coached by Vincent Collet, who also coaches the French national team that Wembanyama is part of. Together, they made it to the LNB Pro A (France's top-tier basketball competition) finals, where they were eliminated 3-0 by AS Monaco.
Sadly, the 2023-24 season has not been kind to Metropolitans 92. They finished the LNB Pro A regular season at the very bottom of the standings with a record of 4-30 and would be relegated to the LNB Pro B if not for the bankruptcy.
Since being established in 2007, Metropolitans won the French Federation Cup in the 2012-13 season and the French Supercup in 2013. They also competed in international tournaments such as the FIBA EuroChallenge and the EuroCup.
