‘Fraud check’: Pros react to Robelis Despaigne’s blowout loss at UFC St. Louis
Robelis Despaigne is not ready for prime time.
That much is clear after the gargantuan Olympic medalist lost a one-sided decision to Waldo Cortes-Acosta on Saturday night at UFC St. Louis. A 6-foot-7 taekwondo savant, Despaigne entered UFC St. Louis with plenty of hype upon his shoulders following an 18-second knockout of Josh Parisian in his octagon debut this past March. Despaigne’s regional MMA career also included three-second and four-second knockouts, so plenty of eyes were tuned in to see what the 35-year-old heavyweight could pull off next.
As it turns out, though, it was Cortes-Acosta who seized the moment, exploiting Despaigne’s lackluster ground game to win a dominant decision at UFC St. Louis.
Check out how the MMA world reacted to Cortes-Acosta vs. Despaigne below.
