Despite missing key pieces, Cleveland gave Boston everything it had but ended up falling short.
The Cavaliers' management will now assess the season they had and plan for what lies ahead for the team. One crucial thing the Cavs will need to address is the situation with head coach J.B. Bickerstaff.
In a report by The Athletic, league sources are saying that "Bickerstaff’s job is in serious jeopardy after five and a half years as head coach." Sources also said that the franchise may take some time to decide on the fate of Bickerstaff and will take into consideration what Bickerstaff built during his time as head coach.
"Bickerstaff, despite all the pressure he and members of the organization above and below him were under this season, has built equity with the front office and was at the helm for Cleveland’s first appearance in a conference semifinal since 2018. This spring marked the Cavs' first playoff series win without LeBron Jameson the roster since 1993," the report said.
But Bickerstaff broke his silence on the rumors about his future, saying he hasn't heard anything official from the management yet.
“No one has told me I’m not (the coach), so I’ll keep showing up until they tell me not to,”said Bickerstaff, who also commented on the progress they've made since he took over.

“We’ve continued to build this thing the right way. Every single year we’ve improved, continued to get better. Play-In, playoffs.”
Aside from Bickerstaff, the Cavaliers also need to secure Donovan Mitchell, who will be offered a $208.5 million contract extension in the offseason.
The report also stated that "Mitchell did not have great confidence in Bickerstaff" and that "several players questioned Bickerstaff’s strategies, game management, practice habits, and accountability measures, privately and publicly, throughout the season."
