Report: Nets' Spencer Dinwiddie to decline player option / News - Basketnews.com
Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie will forgo a $12.3 million player option and become an unrestricted free agent ahead of next season, according to ESPN.
Dinwiddie, 28, signed a three-year, $34.5 million deal to remain with the Nets in 2018. He played in just three games this season before suffering a partially torn right ACL that required surgery.
The knee injury occurred in the third quarter of the Nets\' 106-104 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Dec. 27.
He averaged career-best totals in points (20.6) and assists (6.8) in 64 games (49 starts) for the Nets in the 2019-20 season, but missed the NBA\'s restart in the bubble after testing positive for COVID-19.
A second-round pick by Detroit in 2014, Dinwiddie has averaged 12.9 points, 5.0 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 320 career games (133 starts) with the Pistons (2014-16) and Nets.
