CSKA Moscow reached a new agreement with forward and team captain Nikita Kurbanov, who re-signed his contract for one more season with an extension option until the 2022-23 campaign.
Kurbanov (2.02 meters, 34 years old) was born in Moscow and started his career with CSKA in the 2005-06 season, helping the team win its first EuroLeague title in 35 years.
He left CSKA to play for UNICS Kazan and Spartak St Petersburg, returned to CSKA from 2009 to 2012 but left again to play for Spartak, UNICS and Lokomotiv Kuban. Kurbanov started his third stint with CSKA in 2015, and helped the Russian powerhouse win two more EuroLeague titles in 2016 and 2019.
In his time with CSKA, Kurbanov helped his team win eight VTB League titles and six Russian League crowns. He raised the Russian Cup trophy five times - with CSKA in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010, and with UNICS in 2014.
Kurbanov has been present in 8 Final Fours with CSKA and has been a member of the Russian national team. In 267 EuroLeague career games with CSKA, Kurbanov amassed 1,224 points (4.6 PPG) and 810 rebounds (3.0 RPG).
In last season's EuroLeague, Kurbanov averaged 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.8 PIR in 22 minutes of action. In VTB League, his averages were similar: 4.7 points, 3 rebounds and 7.5 PIR in 19 minutes.
