After Dejan Milojevic departed Podgorica and moved to the NBA to join the Golden State Warriors, Buducnost VOLI went on and found his replacement in a familiar figure.Aleksandar Dzikic led the blue and white to their greatest success in the Adriatic Basketball League. Under his guidance Buducnost raised the ABA League trophy in the 2017-18 season.Dzikic has experience of coaching other ABA League teams as well, as he has previously been at the helm of Union Olimpija, Krka Novo Mesto and Partizan NIS. The 50 year-old was fired by Buducnost in December 2018, following a tough EuroLeague loss to FC Bayern Munich, game in which Buducnost led by as many as 17 points. On July 3, 2019, Dzikic became the head coach of Movistar Estudiantes. However, in January 2020, he left the team as it was last in league standings with 4-14 record.
