Panathinaikos Athens management picked team's new head coach.According to George Zakko of SDNA, the Greek team agreed with a local strategistDimitrios Priftison a three-year contract.
Priftis will replace Oded Kattash, who was hired by the green-and-white at the mid-season last year, but at the end of it was let go. The contract with Priftis will be concluded according to the formula 2 + 1.
52-year-old Priftis has coached UNIKS Kazan for the past four seasons. He guided Russian team the EuroCup final, thus earning promotion to the EuroLeague for the upcoming season.
Prior to his stint in Russia, Priftis coached Aris Thessaloniki and AEK Athens teams and served as an assistant on the Greek national team bench.
Last season Panathinaikos finished with 11-23 record in the EuroLeague but defended their title in Greek national championship (fifth season in a row).
