Barcelona and Sergi Martinez have agreed on a renewal of the Catalan forward's contract for three more seasons until June 30, 2024.Formed in the junior categories of the club, Martinez first entered the organization at the age of 9, joining the youth teams. Although he made his debut with the first team in the 2019-20 season, the next year was one of consolidation for him. He got to play 54 matches with the first team - 28 in the Spanish League and 26 in the EuroLeague.

Besides, he has already added two titles to his resume: the Copa del Rey and the ACB title. In his post-signing statement, Martinez referred to his presence in Barcelona and thanked coach Sarunas Jasikevicius for his trust.

“This is a dream come true for me. I am part of the team I love. I thank them so much for entrusting me with a further three years. To start from the bottom and go all the way up to the first team is a dream for any child who feels the Barca colors. I feel very identified with Barca, not many people have joined at such a young age and got to play for the first team.It all started thanks to my grandfather. I owe it all to him. My love for Barca began with him. I hope to keep fighting and to make my family happy and proud.I want to thank Saras because it isn’t easy to put so much faith in young players at a club like this and with all the competitions we play in. I thank him from the bottom of my heart because none of this would have been possible without him. Saras was very sincere with me and said he expected me to be a solid player, to help the team and always to be a part of it," the 22-year-old forward concluded.
