Serbia (1-0) started their pursuit of an Olympic ticket with a 94-76 (31-23; 16-24; 20-19; 27-10) win over the Dominican Republic (0-1). The Caribbean country stayed within striking distance for the most part of the game but fell flat in the final quarter.

Serbia came out firing on all cylinders and won the first quarter 31-23. However, the second belonged to the Dominicans, who stormed back and managed to tie the game going into halftime (47-47).
In the third period, neither team was able to gain a substantial lead. The quarter ended with Serbia's one-point lead.
However, the last quarter was when Serbia took care of business. The home team outscored the Dominican Republic 27-10 on their way to the first win of the tournament.
Boban Marjanovic led Serbia with 18 points and 10 boards. He was aided by Filip Petrusev (17 points), Vasilje Micic (16 points, five assists, four rebounds), and Nemanja Bjelica (12 points and six boards).
For the Dominical Republic, Victor Liz and Michael Torres were the leading scorers. Liz ended with 16 points and nine rebounds. Torres also added 16 points and had four assists.
