Turkey (1-0) got an 8-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter but managed to secure a victory in their opener of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Victoria, Canada.

Cedi Osman scored 27 points, as Turkey beat Uruguay (0-1) 95-86 (27-22, 16-15, 18-26, 34-23).
Osman knocked six out of eight 2-pointers, three out of seven 3-pointers while adding nine boards, four assists, and two steals for a combined 28 PIR performance.
Uruguay made an impressive run at the begging of the fourth quarter. Esteban Batista made a dunk, Granger nailed a 2-pointer, while Luciano Parodi added a 3-pointer, and with 8 minutes to play, Uruguay led by 8 points – 72-64.
Despite that, Turkey managed to answer back. Alperen Sengun made both of his free throws, Cedi Osman scored a basket with an opponent’s foul, and in a few moments knocked a 3-pointer, after which Turkey got the lead back – 80-79.
Moments later, Osman knocked both of his throws and made a crucial assist to Sehmus Hazer; Sengun also sank his free throws, and with 1:06 to play, Turkey got a secure 7-point lead (91-84).
Jayson Granger was unstoppable in the Uruguayan team, with 25 points, ten assists, five rebounds, and one steal for a combined 29 PIR performance.
