Valanciunas' double-double pushes Lithuania past South Korea / News - Basketnews.com

The Lithuanian national team (2-0) finished their Group A battles of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Kaunas without losses after defeating South Korea (0-2) 96-57 (28-16, 21-18, 27-9, 20-14).

The host nation took first place in Group A and will face Poland in the semi-final on July 3. The winner of this semi-final will face the winner of the Slovenia - Venezuela matchup in the final game for the ticket to the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Lithuanians started off slow and by the middle of the first quarter, the hosts managed to build only a 2-point (12-10) lead. However, Marius Grigonis realized free-throws, Rokas Giedraitis scored 3-pointer, Domantas Sabonis added a basket with a foul, and Lithuania finished the quarter with a 16-4 run to build a double-digit advantage - 28-14.

The host team took complete control of the game after a break. Jonas Valančiūnas scored points with the opponent's foul, Grigonis added a 2-pointer and a 3-pointer, and the Lithuanian advantage did not raise any questions (60-36).

Memphis Grizzlies center Jonas Valančiūnas had 15 points (6 for 8 2PTS, 3 for 4 FT) in 17 minutes, grabbed 13 rebounds, blocked 3 shots, and finished with 28 player efficiency points.

Guna Ra had 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals for South Korea.
