Although it was considered to be a standard operating procedure, it took rather long for Olympiacos Piraeus and Giorgos Printezis to announce the renewal of their collaboration for the 20th season overall.

The 36-year-old forward had been battling an injury that kept him out of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Victoria, Canada, where Greece didn't make it against the Czech Republic in the final. Finally, Printezis and the management of the "Reds" met and confirmed that only the details were to be sorted out until a full agreement came into place.

Per club announcement: "The presidents of Olympiacos BC, Giorgos and Panagiotis Angelopoulos, met today with Giorgos Printezis and agreed to renew their cooperation for another season."There was no negotiation with the presidents. It was actually another friendly conversation. I consider myself blessed to continue with Olympiacos. I hope everything goes well and that in the new season fans can return to the stadiums and see their team up close again.

I wish our team would bring out health and fighting spirit. I hope we'll have the hunger to achieve our goals, which unfortunately we didn't do in the previous years. We want to be a team that our fans will love and support in victory and defeat. I hope that we all stay healthy and that the stadiums are packed again, having ensured above all that no one will endanger their health", Printezis noted after the signing.

Giorgos Printezis, born on the Greek island of Syros, played for Olympiacos between 2001 and 2009. He then moved to Unicaja Malaga for two seasons, from which he returned in 2011, to lead Olympiacos Piraeus to two consecutive EuroLeague titles in 2012 and 2013, scoring the winning floater in the Istanbul final against CSKA Moscow.
