Casspi sat next to his father Shimon and the chairman of Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, Shimon Mizrahi, while announcing his decision.

"The game of basketball has given me a lot over the years," Caspi said in his opening remarks. "As a young boy from Yavne who played with jersey No. 18, I retire on July 18. Maccabi taught me a lot about professionalism, hard work, and victory at all costs. I appreciate those values I learned. I've suffered a lot of injuries, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to go home and finish my career here."

The 33-year-old started his career with Maccabi in 2005. Casspi spent ten years in the NBA before returning to Israel. The 2.06 forward played for seven NBA teams throughout his career and holds career averages of 7.9 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.

The veteran averaged 4.1 points and 2.4 rebounds while appearing in 16 EuroLeague games last season.
