Rytas Vilnius have acquired last season's top scorer in the Lithuanian LKL League Vaidas Kariniauskas. The point guard and the Basketball Champions League team signed a one-year deal.

"I am glad that I am here," Kariniauskas said about joining Rytas. "Several criteria weighed my choice - first of all, the family wanted me to stay in Lithuania. The second and very important aspect was the coach, whom I believe and have already talked to for several hours. I love his vision, his style of work, and how he manages the team. He is the players' coach. And, of course, the level I want to be at and take an even bigger step in my career."

The 27-year-old (1.99) started last season in Nevezis Kedainiai, then moved to Juventus Utena. The point guard was among the team leaders and was selected to the league's symbolic five.

Kariniauskas played a total of 28 matches and recorded 16.6 points, 6.2 assists, and 3 rebounds per game.

The player has also played in Greece, Italy, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina during his career.

He will join recently signed Margiris Normantas to form a dynamic guard line.
