After four seasons in the NBA and another one in the G League, Henry Ellenson is now headed to the Spanish ACB League to make his European basketball debut with Monbus Obradoiro.

The Marquette product spent last year playing in the G League before signing a 10-day contract with the Raptors in March. The 2016 first-round pick finished third in the G League MVP balloting, but he failed to stick on the NBA roster in Toronto after his contract expired.

The American power forward has made his first statement as a member of Obradoiro and explained what were the reasons behind his decision to join the Galician club:

“I heard that Monbus Obradoiro is a great club, which competes in an incredible league. The opportunity to join the team excited me. I'm looking forward to my first season at the ACB. I love to compete and I want to play against the best."Ellenson hopes to "be able to contribute to the team through my leadership and versatility. I love playing all over the court. I've worked hard to be able to contribute from the three-point line. In my mind, I always aim to win. I also had an excellent conversation with Moncho Fernandez about how I will fit into the team. He knows me well as a player, so I'm very excited about the opportunity that lies ahead.”Ellenson confesses to having spoken with two former players, Matt Thomas and Mike Muscala. "They both told me that they had had a great experience with the team and the city, so my decision to go to Santiago was much easier. I really want to meet our fans and play for them this season. They have told me about their passion for this team, so I can't wait to experience it first-hand!”
