Report: Jaxson Hayes arrested and hospitalized following police altercation / News - Basketnews.com

New Orleans Pelicans center Jaxson Hayes was arrested and transferred to hospital after an alleged violent altercation with police forces, according to a report from TMZ Sports. Hayes is expected to be booked for felony battery of a police officer, who was also hospitalized.The incident began at a home in the Los Angeles area after a domestic disturbance call was made early on Wednesday morning, according to the report. As policemen showed up at the home, Hayes allegedly attempted to keep them from entering.

Reportedly, the ex-Texas Longhorns star got tased in the middle of the scuffle. The brawl was allegedly so intense, police put out an "officer needs help" radio call. Hayes’ injuries are minor, while the condition of the police officer involved is unknown.The 8th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, coming out of the University of Texas, was initially selected by the Atlanta Hawks. His draft rights were traded to the Pelicans. In his rookie year, Hayes played in 64 games for the New Orleans-based franchise, starting 14 of them.

He averaged 7.4 points per game on 67.2% shooting from the floor, while also grabbing 4 rebounds per game. This past season, Hayes played in 60 games but started just three of them. His numbers were very similar, averaging 7.5 points per game on 62.5% shooting and grabbing 4.3 rebounds per game.
