Report: Raptors, Gary Trent Jr. agree to 3-year, $54M deal / News - Basketnews.com
The Toronto Raptors agreed to a three-year, $54 million contract Monday with restricted free agent Gary Trent Jr., according to ESPN.
The Raptors extended a qualifying offer to Trent Jr. last week, signaling the team's intentions of keeping him. He will likely be tabbed to start for Toronto with the departure on Kyle Lowry, who agreed to a deal Monday to join the Miami Heat next season.
The 22-year-old son of Gary Trent, who averaged 8.6 points over nine seasons in the NBA, comes off his career-best season, his third in the league. He produced 15.3 points per game and sank 2.8 3-pointers in 58 games (38 starts) with the Raptors and Portland Trail Blazers.
Trent put up 16.2 points in 17 games (15 starts) with Toronto after being traded from Portland in March along with Rodney Hood for Norman Powell.
In his three seasons, Trent has averaged 11 points per game and shot 39.3 percent from 3-point range.
