“A lot of emotions in that last applause!” tweeted Ginobili. “Thanks, Luis, for teaching us so much in these years and always leading by example. A great companion. I applaud standing up!”
“I’m still a bit emotional. What a professional, what a work ethic, commitment… Unrepeatable for so many things. Thanks again, Luifa,” added Ginobili.
Like Ginobili, players on the court also applauded Scola when he was substituted for the last time. Scola himself, along with the other Argentinian players, couldn’t hold his tears.
Scola made his debut for Argentina in 1999. With his country, Scola won the gold medal in Athens Olympic Games in 2004 and a bronze medal in Beijing in 2008.
He also has two silver medals from FIBA World Cup in 2002 and 2019. Moreover, Scola won two gold (2001 and 2011), four silver (2003, 2007, 2015, 2017), and three bronze (1999, 2009, 2013) medals in FIBA AmeriCup tournaments.
Finally, Scola also won the gold medal in Pan American Games in 2019.
