Report: Bucks acquire G Grayson Allen from Grizzlies / News - Basketnews.com
The Milwaukee Bucks are acquiring Grayson Allen from the Memphis Grizzlies for Sam Merrill in a swap of shooting guards, ESPN reported Friday.
The Grizzlies also will acquire two future second-round picks.
Allen, 25, is entering the final year of the rookie deal he signed after the Utah Jazz drafted the sharpshooter from Duke No. 21 overall in 2018. The Grizzlies acquired him July 6, 2019, as part of the trade that sent veteran point guard Mike Conley to Utah.
Allen appeared in 50 games (38 starts) for Memphis last season, posting averages of 10.6 points, 2.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds -- all career highs. He shot 39.1 percent from three-point range.
Merrill, also 25, was selected No. 60 overall in 2020 by the New Orleans Pelicans. He was among the players dealt in a four-team trade that landed All-Star Jrue Holiday in Milwaukee last November.
Merrill spent much of the season with the Memphis Hustle of the G-League. For the NBA champion Bucks, Merrill appeared in 30 games (two starts), averaging 3.0 points.
With the trade, the Grizzlies have dealt two of their top scorers from last season. Last month, they traded Jonas Valanciunas (17.1 points per game) to the Pelicans. Ja Morant (19.1) led Memphis in scoring.
