ELPA-EuroLeague collective agreement taking effect: Barcelona forced to postpone pre-season / News - Basketnews.com
FC Barcelona were planning to kick off their pre-season workouts on August 9. However, the newly signed ELPA-EuroLeague collective agreement has altered the plans of head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius and his team, Jose Ignacio Huguet of Mundo Deportivo reports.
The new collective agreement enforced longer rest guarantees for players. Therefore, Barca are forced to delay the start of their pre-season until August 18.
The collective agreement also includes points, such as the guaranteed minimum salary according to the length of player's EuroLeague play, mandatory monthly days off, improvements in medical services for players, and the inclusion of player voice in decisions regarding season calendar, health and safety protocols, doping tests, and rules of the game.
